The Alchemist

The Alchemist
Paulo Coelho

Whenever we do something that fills us with enthusiasm, we are following our legend. However, we don't all have the courage to confront our own dream.

I ask myself: are defeats necessary? Well, necessary or not, they happen. The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.

There are four obstacles that prevent us from confronting our dreams.
1- our personal calling to pursue our dreams is so deeply buried in our soul as to be invisible. But it's still there.
2-we're afraid of hurting those around us by abandoning everything in order to pursue our dreams.
3-fear of defeat
4-the fear of realizing the dream for which we fight all our lives. As if we don't deserve it. "each man kills the things he love"

Everything has been written by the same hand

Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than suffering itself.

So we, their hearts, speak more and more softly. We never stop soakinrg out, but we begin to hope that our words won't be heard: we don't want people to suffer because they don't follow their hearts
